VII: Unfinished Business
In 1776, fifty-six (56) leaders came together to give birth to a new nation. Their names read like a Who’s Who – in fact they were the original Who’s Who! Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, Hancock, Madison, Hamilton, Monroe and more. They believed in one another. They led the way to our Charters of Freedom – the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Eventually they died with work still to be done.
They left behind – unfinished business.
Many leaders followed in their footsteps. Over the next 240 years, the list of the great ones is unlimited – Lincoln, King, Grant. Lee, Edison, Carver, Ford, MacArthur, Twain, Keller, Salk, Carnegie, Bell, Glenn, Bradley, Anthony, Parks, Rockne, Emerson, Frost, Stowe, Stanton, Disney, Moore and the Tuskegee Airmen – their Double V (Victory) – Victory abroad and at home. Their work at home is still unfinished business. Eventually these leaders died with work still to be done.
They too left behind – unfinished business.
Now, what do we do? Who do we turn to? Look around you. Are there any among us made of the same stuff? Are there any servant leaders ready to lead our families, our churches, our businesses, our governments, our schools, our hospitals, etc. Where are you leaders?

We think – YES. You are out there. In the name of civility and servant leadership – please rise and be counted. Let us be clear. It is not our desire to right all the wrongs, but it is our desire to make the rights even better. It is time to right America and we know that reviving civility and being servant leaders is a powerful way to shift the consciousness of our society through action.
But how do we do this?
-
Let us revisit history and learn from research what went right and wrong.
-
Let us target the unfinished business as of 2017 for a 2020 good society plan.
-
Let us identify and invite model organizations and leaders to lead.
-
Let us detail specific initiatives that will advance America’s wellbeing.
-
Let us become this over-arching national unified system to make a collective impact.
-
Let us go back to the basics in protecting the value of all relationships.
-
Lastly, let us become engaged and lead with the faith of our forefathers.
With the heart of a warrior, the mind of scholar, and the soul of a monk…
Let us celebrate and follow NEW leaders ready to lead!
