Welcome to our Blueprint. It is most challenging to share a blueprint with you which is solely based on human nature, civilization and kindness. As we have walked and served these past five years, our journey was initially devoted to the safety and wellbeing of veterans. This continues today. This led to our serving youth and their dreams. It was then expanded to families and their communities. In our work, we found others who believe and do. We have worked alongside many and some are public-private partners. In all we have learned, what is changing lives are - civility, respect, engagement, faith and servant leadership. That is where we have driven our stake in the ground. This is where we have planted ourselves – right in the middle of the hearts of mankind. It may appear to be less than bold and courageous. Not so. Serving humanity in this way is not for the faint of heart. In fact, to serve requires putting heart first!
I. In the pursuit of XSLNC (Excellence) in serving the human condition, it our promise to advance our very best to achieve our Humanitas Flagship Initiative – to research, celebrate, educate and serve Veterans, Youth, Families, Communities and Businesses as a national Community of Practice for Civility, Respect, Engagement, Faith and Servant Leadership.
II. There are three NLC operating parts to our promise for XSLNC: The Leadership Humanitarian Foundation, The Leadership Management Group, and The National Lyceum for Civility & Leadership. Each is a perfect fit with the other two and can operate independently or as one – pending the opportunity.
III. Effective July 1, 2017, the NLC will convene invited servant leaders in July and August to consider, decide and act upon this most challenging endeavor as our three-year service plan for 2017-2020. With the three working together simultaneously, we will crawl before we walk, walk before we run and run before we fly. With each quarter, beginning July 1-October 30, 2017, we will achieve specific measurable objectives with end of quarter progress reports to our NLC service members. Fifty % of what we do is directed to local levels, thirty % to state levels, and 20% to the national level.
IV. We have been presented with multiple opportunities to serve which are impacting all communities --- areas of concern such as domestic violence, behavioral health, stigma, public kinship, homelessness, lack of hope and dignity, lack of faith and spiritual maturity, need for youth and student leadership development, a lack of connectedness and networking, and a societal loss of a sacred fire for America. In all, we wish to champion Civility as our primary overarching national act of service.
V. As Civility and Servant Leadership becomes our daily working agenda, we have identified a Civility Tour, a May 1 Civility Day, and a Youth Civility Retreat Program as our top priorities.
VI. To aid one with a visual, please think of the NLC in the middle of a rotating hub of sorts. It is the size of a dime. There are three spokes leading outward – with our three programs the size of a silver dollar at the end of each connector (see II). The three programs are also connected with each other with a dotted line. Outward from each satellite are additional service organizations working in unison with the NLC for Civility and Servant Leadership.
VII. Lest we get too engaged with what we do, it is our promise to be about whom we are and who we are serving. May our purpose always begin with us as servant leaders - the within. As an ongoing nine-month retreat program, the NLC will offer internally and to special guests, the United States Leadership Academy & Campus (USLA). In partnership with outstanding leader-teachers and institutions, the NLC wishes to serve as America’s national headquarters(HQ) --- as Aristotle did in 335 B.C. --- “A place for walking, an oasis of calm, a setting for reflection, and still, perhaps most importantly, a place for learning.” Our initial pilot period will be January, 2018 through May 2018. Our initial full speed plan will launch September2018. Our university places for learning under consideration are the states of Georgia, Alabama, Virginia and Colorado- with specific options being studied.
Can we promise the above blueprint will be achieved as planned? No. What we can promise is an unequalled controlled “Civility and Servant Leadership Tsunami” that is underway for the good of society. We love making a difference in one soul or many. With each day, we will ask if we have served another with kindness. Will we be all talk? Will we be about relationships for the better? Time will tell. Should you wish to jump aboard, do so. If not, please monitor our progress – our work. Thank you for caring as you do for America’s wellbeing. Make today a day of being kind to others!!!
